What is the NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) Card?

NCMC Card has been conceptualized by the Government of India as an easy and convenient payment instrument, which can be used across Public Transport (Bus, Metro etc.) and for retail payments. You can also use these cards to pay for tolls and parking charges. NCMC cards are interoperable and can be used for mobility payments across the country.

What is the difference between a Full KYC PPI and a Zero KYC NCMC PPI Card?

The full KYC cardholder can avail of many features like Fund Transfer, ATM Withdrawal, and Online Purchases. However, a Zero KYC NCMC cardholder can only use this card for public transport where the NCMC network is available.

What is an offline Wallet in NCMC Card?

An offline wallet in a Zero KYC NCMC card is a virtual allocation within the EMV Chip of the card to store the balance of the amount permitted. This amount can be transferred from the intermediate wallet account to make Offline payments for Public Transport like Metro Rail & Buses, Toll Plaza etc. You can use the Ongo app to transfer the balance from the intermediate Ongo wallet account to use your Ongo Ride card for transit payments.

How can I add funds to my Ongo Ride card?

You can approach any metro station counter to add money to your Ongo Ride card. You can also add funds to your card using the Ongo App. Money can be added to the Wallet either through an Internet Banking NCMC top-up facility or UPI or through a Debit or Credit card to the intermediate wallet account of the Zero KYC Ongo Ride card.

What is the maximum amount I can load or top up in my Wallet?

RBI has fixed the maximum amount that can be made available in the wallet at any point of time as ₹3000/-. The transactions are performed through offline mode and get deducted from the wallet immediately. However, the issuer will come to know about the transactions only on the next day when settlement files reach the Ongo system from the Acquiring Terminals. Hence the maximum loading or top-up amount has been restricted.

How can I load money into my Zero KYC Ongo Ride card?

Money can be loaded/topped up to the offline wallet of the Zero KYC Ongo Ride card using the payment gateway or at the Metro stations etc.

How can I check the Balance in my Wallet at any point of time?

The Balance is stored in the Chip of the Card only, the current balance in the Wallet can be viewed by the Cardholder in any of the RuPay qSparc Certified NCMC compatible Terminals (PoS). You can approach any metro counter to check your card balance. Tap on the Card balance option in the machine display and keep your card on the machine. The machine will read the chip and display the current balance of the card.

What will happen to the money loaded in the Wallet, if the Zero KYC Ongo Ride Card is lost?

In case the Zero KYC Ongo Ride card is lost, the customer must request the organization to issue a replacement but the offline balance in the card cannot be transferred to the new allotted card.

How can I view the balance of my Zero KYC Ongo Ride Card’s offline wallet?

A card holder must download the Ongo app from the Google Play Store and register himself/herself as a customer by providing minimum details. Post-registration, the cardholder can check his/her balance using the check balance option. He/she can also visit the nearest metro station and check the balance on the CTT (Card Top-up Terminal) available at Metro stations. On CTT he/she can tap the card and the balance on the card will be visible on the screen of the CTT Machine.

Will there be a refund or transfer of the offline wallet balance if the Zero KYC Ongo Ride card is stolen or lost?

No, there will be no refund or transfer of offline wallet balance if the card is stolen or lost as the balance is written on the chip of the Card which can be used by any person.

Will there be a refund or transfer of the offline wallet balance if the Zero KYC Ongo Ride card is damaged or not working?

Yes, in such scenarios the cardholder has to raise a request with the Helpdesk and the Helpdesk will guide him for replacement of the non-working or damaged card. In such cases, the cardholder must submit the card to a designated employee upon receipt of which the amount will get transferred within 7 working days. The Helpdesk may carry out verification if required in such cases.

What happens if I recharge the offline wallet with a value of more than ₹3000?

As per RBI guidelines on Zero KYC NCMC Cards, the balance in Intermediate and offline balance cannot be more than ₹ 3000/- at any given point in time. If a customer tries to load with a consolidated value of more than ₹ 3000/- the system will reject the top-up.

Where can I see my Zero KYC Ongo Ride Card’s offline wallet recharge transaction history?

It can be seen using the Ongo app registration. A customer can register himself/herself with his/her phone number and can check the transaction history post login in the Ongo App.

What if my offline wallet recharge gets declined?

In case the offline wallet recharge transaction gets declined, below can be checked for the Credit Card –
a. Ensure Contactless Transaction is switched ON.
b. Offline wallet balance does not exceed ₹ 3000.
c. The source account has sufficient balance.
d. Check the network of the device from where the top-up is being done.
